ON 19 May MSO Tampa rcvd notification that the tug coastal BOCA GRANDE with Barges COASTAL 203 and 204 went aground near mile 93 on the Caloosehatchee River near Fort Meyers, FL. Both barges were loaded with approximately 9500 bbls each of #6 fuel oil bound for the Florida Power and Light plant in Tice, Ft.Myers, FL. Barge 204 was the lead barge and is aground on one side of the channel. No apparent damage to the hull was found. Soundings of the tanks were taken with no loss of product. Both barges are double bottom. Efforts to refloat barges will occur at next high tide, which will occur at 0730 20 May 00. A diver standing by will conduct an underwater survey of vessels for damage. The river is not closed to traffic.
