On 1 April, 2000 at 2315, the NRC received a report from Virginia Power concerning a release of 50,000 gallons of transformer oil from a transformer in Fairfax County, VA. The release was just outside of the city of Fairfax. The cause of the release was due to a fire on the transformer. An unknown amount of the oil entered an unnamed creek, which eventually feeds into the Occoquan River. The material has not made it to the river. Clean up contractors responded and have contained and are removing the oil in the creek. It is not known if the oil contains PCB''s. EPA III is FOSC. CASE PENDS
