On the morning of January 1, what was believed to be a natural gas explosion leveled a house in Silver Spring, MD. Two people in the house were killed and there were reports that two other people were taken to the hospital with injuries. The explosion and shock wave could be heard and felt for several miles. Several surrounding residents were evacuated and residential streets were closed while fire and police departments responded. The exact cause of the explosion is being investigated by police and fire departments. There has been high local media coverage. CASE CLOSED
