On 5 June, three storage tanks at the Channel Refinery, in Houston TX, were flooded as a result of heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Allison. This flooding resulted in the release of approximately 19,740 gallons of Marine Diesel and 20,160 gallons of intermediate fuel oil, for a total of 39,900 gallons. Marine Safety Office (MSO) Houston personnel responded to the spill and the refinery hired an environmental response contractor to cleanup and contain the spill. MSO Houston will continue to monitor the status of cleanup operations. Low Media interest was expressed. CASE CLOSED.
