On 12 June, MSO Houston was notified by Houston Marine Services of approximately 2,100 gallons of #6 oil spilling into the San Jacinto River. Houston Marine Services was on-loading the oil into a tank barge, which was boomed off prior to commencement, when the incident happened. Once clean-ups commenced, it was re-estimated to be 21,000 gallons of product spilled into the water. Investigating Officer’s were on scene and have issued violations to the tankerman on watch. Contractors are using vacuum trucks and skimmers and placing the product into frac tanks. No entrainment has occurred. 6,300 gallons had been recovered and it is anticipated that it will be completed by mid-afternoon on 13 June. CASE CLOSED
