Description:

At 9:04 a.m. MST, on December 27, 2001, a locomotive derailed, due to a break in the track, which caused a puncture in its tank and the release of 2000 gallons of #2 diesel fuel onto the ground. The incident took place in the Tucson Rail Yard on track # 16 in Tucson, Arizona. There was no injuries or evacuations as a result of the incident. An environmental clean-up crew is en route to the site for clean-up. EPA IX is the Federal On Scene Coordinator. CASE CLOSED.
