Description:

On Sep 11, 2001 at approximately 1700 local time, material was discharged into the environment when the World Trade Center (WTC) Tower in Manhattan, NY collapsed into it's basement. The basement contained the WTC Con Edison Public Utility Substation. No remedial action has been take due to the inaccessibility of the substation by structural debris from the WTC Tower and other safety considerations. The situation is being monitored by the FOSC and multiple Federal, State and Local agencies responding to the WTC incident.

Materials released included 100 gallons of gasoline, an unknown amount of Alkylbenzene, an unknown amount of Asbestos, 1000 pounds of compressed nitrogen, 10,000 gallons of transformer oil, 3600 gallons of compacitor oil, 7500 gallons dielectric fluid, 220 pounds of SF6 gas, 100 pounds, Polychlorinated Byphonals, and 390 gallons sulfuric acid. CASE CLOSED.
