Description:

At 1:00 a.m. CST, December 11, 2001, a relief valve line ruptured on a production vessel in centralized tank battery #3 at Occidental Premium Company. This caused the release of 220 barrels (9242 gallons) of crude oil into Intermittent Maverick Creek, a currently dry creek bed. The spill took place 17 miles north of Snyder, TX. The release has been secured and Occidental Premium has hired a contractor for clean up. Vacuum trucks have been used and the area has been flushed with fresh water. There were no injuries or evacuations as a result of the release. EPA VI is the Federal On Scene Coordinator. CASE CLOSED.
