Description:

Early this morning a gasoline storage tank was overfilled spilling into secondary containment and then into a nearby storm water retention pond. The De Kalb county fire department responded and the spill has been secured. At this time no sheen has been reported to be visible in the nearby Nancy Creek. A county hazmat team is conducting air monitoring and a clean-up contractor has been hired. Storm drains are being flushed into collection sites. Excavation and remediation will begin after vertical and horizontal extent of soil contamination has been determined. CASE CLOSED.
