Description:

At 4:30 p.m. PST, on December 12, 2001, a pipeline carrying diesel fuel broke due to a snow slide near Narada Falls in Mount Rainier National Park. As a result, 2300 gallons of No. 2 diesel was spilled in the adjacent area which includes the Paradise River. Booms have been deployed in the river and oil deposits on the ground are being pumped into holding tanks. No one was injured or evacuated as a result of the incident. The Federal On Scene Coordinator is EPA X. CASE CLOSED.
