Description:

On Oct 04, 2001 at 1559 local time, 1100 pounds of Anhydrous Ammonia was released into the atmosphere after a truck backed into and punctured the tank line valve servicing the material. The release resulted in the evacuation of the plant and adjacent buildings including the Coast Guard Station Morro Bay and the Harbor area 1/4 of a mile away. The evacuations were coordinated by the local fire department. Coast Guard members from the Marine Safety Detachment in Santa Barbara arrived on scene the morning of October 04. MSO LA/LB is monitoring. CASE PENDS.
