Description:

On 03 October, 2001, an Ammonia leak at a fish processing plant caused the evacuation of approximately 3500 persons covering a 1000 yard radius around the facility. No injuries resulted from the release. Procedures for ammonia dilution and clean up were enacted. Ammonia removal was completed at 4:00pm, 04 October. Safety zones enacted as a result of the evacuation have been discontinued. CASE CLOSED.
