Tosco Avon reported an aviation fuel spill from a cracked eight inch pipeline leading to Tosco’s Avon facility. The spill was estimated to be 1068 barrels. The product spilled into a containment area adjacent to Pacheco Creek, which flows into Suisun Bay, a navigable waterway of the United States. The containment area has a capacity of 80,000 barrels. All product was contained on land. An MSO response team responded and observed the responsible party’s removal of product via vac truck. The responsible party (Tosco) estimates removal of pooled product to be completed Aug 19th. Cause of pipeline crack is under investigation by Tosco. CASE CLOSED.
