On November 24, 1999 at 0300R Dredge 5 struck and ruptured a 20 inch pipeline south of Grand Isle, Louisiana. Chevron estimates a release of 37,500 gallons of Crude oil just north of Four Bayou Pass. Two spud barges and two tugboats deployed 7,000 feet of boom. Six skimmers were also being used. Two hundred contractors and five Marine Safety Office (MSO) New Orleans representatives were conducting the clean up. A Coast Guard overflight has shown that oil has impacted on sand beaches west of Four Bayou Pass. At 1800, MSO representatives estimated 40 percent of the oil evaporated, 4,200 gallons of oil water mix recovered, and 16,800 gallons remain. MSO New Orleans continues to monitor clean up. CASE PENDS.
