On January 21,1999 the National Response Center received a report that 8 barrels of crude oil was spilled from a 26 inch pipeline at a Chevron facility in Empire, La. On January 22, 1999 USCG District 8 upgraded the spill to 84,000 gallons. The oil spilled onto land in an area adjacent to the Mississippi River. It is separated from the river by a levee and there has been no report of the material entering the water. Chevron is pumping the material back into storage tanks. MSO New Orleans has sent a 4 person team to investigate the incident. CASE PENDS.
