On November 8, 1999 at approximately 1510, 8,000 barrels of bulk distillate were released from a blending tank in a combination liquid and vapor form. The material entered Chadwick''''s Creek but was contained before impacting the Big Sandy River. Recovery operations were completed on November 12, 1999 at approximately 0800. Contractors and company clean up crews recovered 5000 barrels and have begun excavation of effected soil. Kentucky EPA and EPA IV were on scene monitoring clean-up. EPA IV planned on closing the case on November 12, 1999 at 1700. Kentucky EPA will remain on scene to continue monitoring clean-up. CASE CLOSED.
