The barge contains a cargo of 28,000 Barrels of JP-8 jet fuel. The Coast Guard ordered boom be deployed around the vessel. At 1250PM the Atlantic Strike Team was mobilized. As of 4:00PM, the barge remains hard aground after unsuccesful attempts to refloat with tug assistance. No pollution has been reported and the potential for a Major release is considered low. After offloading the cargo, the owners will attempt to have the barge refloated using tug assistance. CASE CLOSED.
