On November 22, 1999 at 10:03pm the National Response Center received a report that the Lift Barge BOA 16(NO) sank between buoys 14 and 16 of the Houston Ship Channel. The channel had been closed since 4:30pm. The barge was carrying 16,000 gallons of diesel and a 2 mile long, 300 foot wide sheen was reported. TNT Marine Salvage was contracted by New Park Shipyard and the barge was refloated at 6:45am November 23, 1999. The Houston Ship Channel was reopened at 7:05am. The barge was taken to the New Park Shipyard. No impact to the shoreline or marine life has been reported, and the pollution is considered minor. CASE CLOSED.
