On December 4, 1998 at approximately 8:40 am, there was an explosion at the Environmental Science Ethylene Dichloride Chemical Plant in Point Comfort, TX. The plant is currently on fire and it is unknown exactly what chemicals have been released. Approximately 1300 employees have been evacuated. No injuries have been reported at this time. The roads surrounding the plant have been closed.
