SITUATION: On September 18, 1998 at 0538 the USCG received notification that the M/V Eddie Touchette was aground and taking on water. The vessels engine room was completely flooded. The vessel contains an estimated 30,893 gallons of diesel fuel and was pushing two empty asphalt barges. There was a visible sheen in the immediate vicinity of the vessel. There is a clean up contractor on scene with a spill response trailer, 21ft boat, 2000ft of boom and 3 personnel. Vessel has been completely boomed off. Tank barge is en route to commence lightering. Atlantic Strike team has sent two personnel to the scene and the Marine Safety Center salvage team has been notified. MSO Paducah will continue to monitor the situation. CASE PENDS.
