SITUATION: On Monday, July 21, 1997, the potential for a major gasoline oil spill occurred when the T/B TTT 102 ran aground in the Mississippi River MM 223 while being pushed by the M/V PIC. The single skinned barge contained 1900 barrels of casinghead gasoline but no pollution was observed. The barge is located an estimated 300 yards out of the channel near the left descending bank. Initial attempts to free the barge failed. A lightering barge is due on scene early July 22 to assist in re-floating the barge. The barge will proceed to Marathon Oil to off-load remaining cargo and then will be dry docked for inspection. CASE CLOSED THIS UNIT.
