SITUATION: This updates the Rig Mallard 52 fire and explosion that occurred while drilling for natural gas on Lake Chicot gas field off the Atchalafaya River. "Dynamic well kill" has been completed. Shearing operations have been conducted and gas flow has been controlled with a choke system. Excess pressure was bled off after pumping of kill fluid was completed. USCG Gulf Strike Team and Spill contractors have been released. Marine Safety Office Morgan City will conduct investigate of incident as a Major Marine Casualty. CASE CLOSED THIS UNIT.
