SITUATION: On Monday, April 28, 1997, a major crude oil spill occurred when a 12 inch pipeline developed a leak due to flood waters near Randlett, OK. Conoco reports an estimated 500 barrels of crude oil has been released into the Red River. The pipeline has been shutdown and the release is secured. Three containment booms have been placed 100 miles downstream of the spill site near the town of Lebanon, OK. The EPA has notified the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Agency due to the possible threat to the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. EPAVI will continue to monitor situation. No additional information was available. CASE CLOSED THIS UNIT.
