Description:

At 3:15am local time a power plant step up transformer failure resulted in a fire that caused 17,000 gallons of non-PCB transformer oil to spill. The oil initially spilled into secondary containment with some spilling onto soil and into a man made pond. The amount spilled outside of the containment is unknown. The plant is located 1,500 yards from the Columbia River. The fire has been extinguished, the contaminated soil is being excavated and a vacuum truck is on scene recovering the oil. CASE CLOSED.
