Description:

On October 22, 2002 the National Response Center received a report of a 20,000 gallon hydrochloric acid release. The material was discharged as a result of a train derailment on the Toyah subdivision at milepost 498. Union Pacific reports 12 freight cars derailed from train number MFWOD 22nd. The Hydrochloric Acid release is secured from tank car GATX72835. The material was neutralized by a contractor. EPA is the FOSC.
