| Description: At 4:15 p.m. E.S.T., on July 18, 2002 a multi car accident caused a tanker truck to release 5000 gallons of gasoline onto the ground. The accident took place at the intersection of Highway 96 and Highway 42 in Selma, NC. There were four nearby homes evacuated as a result of the incident. Highway 96 was closed in all directions until cleanup was completed. A private contractor was hired to handle the cleanup. EPA VI is the Federal On Scene Coordinator. CASE CLOSED. |
