Description:

On January 6 a tanker truck loaded with 10,002 gallons of diesel fuel overturned possibly due to driver overcompensation. As a result of the rollover the cargo trailer was ruptured. An unknown amount of fuel did impact the Clear Water River which is a tributary to the Snake River. US Highway 12 was shut down for eight hours and the driver was sent to the hospital the following day for injuries sustained during the accident. Two cleanup contractors are on scene conducting cleanup along with several other federal and state agencies. At the time of the call to the National Response Center the reporting party stated, approximately 5,000 gallons of diesel had been recovered. CASE CLOSED.
