| Description: On July 23, 2002 the National Response Center received a report from the Utah DEQ that approx. 1500 gallons of an oily sludge was discharged into Ash Creek, which is currently a dry creek bed. There is a possibility that the drinking water supply for the town of Toquerville, UT could become contaminated if rain were to fall and there is a forecast of rain for the 24th and 25th of July. The responsible party is unknown at this time, however, it is suspected that a truck inspection station 30 miles from the location could possibly be the source. Samples were taken to determine the contents of the sludge. |
