Description:

On 22 April, 2002, at 1:00 PM local time, 600 barrels of crude oil released from a pipeline when a third party contractor struck the pipeline with an excavator. The release was to land only; no water was involved. The pipeline is described as an 8-inch, underground, transportation pipeline. There were no injuries, fatalities, or offsite impacts reported. At the time of the report (9:07 PM), all of the material had been vacuumed up and the excavation of the impacted soil was planned. The reporting party initially reported the spill at 2:53 PM local time (report #600400). CASE CLOSED
