On December 08, 1999 the National Response Center received a report of a 5,000 gallon hydrochloric acid spill from a tank truck in San Antonio, TX. The actual amount released was 3,400 gallons of 15 percent hydrochloric acid solution. The material went into a concrete drainage ditch. Eagle Construction was contracted and neutralized the acid and recovered the residual material. An order was given for people to leave the area within a one mile radius and several schools were evacuated. The evacuation order was lifted later that afternoon. In addition, Interstate 35 and Interstate 10 were closed for an unknown amount of time. Both roads have been re-opened. CASE CLOSED.
