Occurence Date: 10 December
Location: Horseshoe Bayou
Source: Storage Tank
Material: Condensate
Severity: Medium
Quantity Discharged: 280 Barrels
Quantity in Water: 280 Barrels
Body of Water Affected: Horshoe Bayou
Federal On-Scene Coordinator: MSO Morgan City

On December 10, 1999 MSO Morgan City received report of an oil slick on Horseshoe Bayou and conducted an overflight of the spill. The sheen was tracked back to a storage tank on a platform owned and operated by Hubco Exploration Inc. After sounding the tank, it was determined that approximately 280 barrels of condensate had been released when a high level sensor failed to shut in the facility following an oil/water separator failure. There was no evidence of pollution at the facility and no sheen within 25 miles of the facility. The facility was shut in and no clean up has been required. CASE CLOSED.
