On March 20, 1999 at 0915 local, a gasket at a falange on a 10 inch Sinclair Pipeline CO. transmission line failed releasing 1500 BBLs of sweet crude oil. The product was spilled onto a sandy soil area 3 miles southeast of the intersection of Interstate 25 and U.S. Highway 26. Sinclair Pipeline CO and a local contractor have constructed an earthen berm to contain the oil and are using vacuum trucks, backhoes and dump trucks to recover the product. No water source was affect by this spill and the pipeline is DOT regulated. CASE CLOSED.
